Job Description: · Job Title: Peer Recovery Specialist – (Full Time, On-Site) Salary: From $17.00 per hour

Location: Delphi, IN Hours per Week: 40, Exempt: No

Overview: Mental Health America – Wabash Valley Region (MHA-WVR) seeks an enthusiastic and organized individual to join our team as a Peer Recovery Specialist. This role will support our Let’s Talk program, providing stabilization, emotional support, and goal setting to people and caregivers facing mental health and/or substance use challenges. With a rich history of 70 years in Tippecanoe County, we are proud to offer Certified Peer Recovery services across 11 counties.

Job Summary:
The Peer Recovery Specialist will employ superior listening skills to assist clients or caregivers during their recovery journey. This role aims to provide clients with a supportive platform for expression and guidance, while not substituting professional counseling. Responsibilities include facilitating 45-minute sessions, aiding clients in self-identification of resources, goal setting, and safety planning.

Key responsibilities:

Client Services:

Utilize wellness strategies and coping skills.
Serve as a role model and empower clients to leverage their strengths.
Conduct individual intake appointments.
Identify and address challenges hindering access to services.
Coordinate client appointments and track progress.
Collaboration with Courts and Law Enforcement:

Engage with judicial and law enforcement entities to provide requested services.
Tracking Client Outcomes:

Assist in monitoring client outcomes and program success.
Maintain accurate records in case management software.
Other Responsibilities:

Adhere to program requirements and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
Keep Supportive Services Manager informed of relevant issues.
Contribute positively to the work environment.
Travel as needed, possessing a valid Indiana driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Qualifications:

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
Practitioner of self-care routines.
Proficient in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and problem-solving techniques.
Demonstrates adaptability and multitasking abilities.
Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience:

Comfortable with extended periods of sitting.
Proficient in data entry and Microsoft Office Suite.
Able to work independently with clients within specified hours.
Must pass background checks and complete required trainings.
Education:

Active CRS, CHW, or CPSP certification required. Other peer certifications will be reviewed upon interview. All peers are required to obtain their CPSP credential 90 days after hire date.
